Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada

Client: Ripley Entertainment Inc.
Location: Toronto, Ontario
Ripleys Aquarium of Canada

Project Completion: October 2013
Project Value: $120 Million

Ripley Entertainment Inc. constructed a new, world-class Aquarium attraction at the base of the CN Tower in Toronto, Ontario. Approximately 120,000 SF, the aquarium houses over 1.2 million litres of water and includes: below grade tanks to service aquatic life, a steel super-structure, large concrete aquatic tanks with acrylic viewing panels, an underwater acrylic viewing tunnel, life support systems for the aquatic life, specialty aquarium tank theming, audio and video, and interactive areas. 

PMX was a part of the Ripley’s capital project team providing project management services on all aspects of the project, from design and construction to commissioning and occupancy of the facility.

BMO Field at Exhibition Place

Client: Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment
Location: Toronto, Ontario

Project Completion: May 2007
Project Value: $62.8 Million

Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment (MLSE) completed Canada’s national soccer stadium, BMO Field, located at Toronto’s Exhibition Place. The Toronto Major League Soccer (MLS) stadium is home to the Toronto Football Club (TFC). The 160,000 SF facility has the capacity to seat 20,000 fans and was completed on-time and on-budget, as scheduled for the start of the 2007 MLSE season and hosting the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup Canada Tournament. 

PMX provided senior level project management oversight, cost, scheduling, and control management of funding applications to three levels of government.

Toronto Football Club Practice Facility

Client: Parc Downsview Park Inc. (PDP)
Location: Toronto, Ontario

Project Completion: January 2013
Project Value: $120 Million

The Toronto Football Club (TFC) Academy and Training Facility is located at Downsview Park in Toronto, Ontario. TFC’s state-of-the-art complex serves as the primary practice, training, and development facility for its Junior and Senior Academy teams. The practice facility includes three grass fields: one heated, one “FieldTurf” field with a surrounding dome and a 40,000 SF fieldhouse that will house locker rooms, training facilities, and team offices.

Georgian Downs Redevelopment

Client: Great Canadian Gaming Corporation
Location: Innisfil, Ontario

Great Canadian Gaming Corporation (GCG) completed the 53,000 SF expansion and renovation to the slots at Georgian Downs Casino. The project allowed the facility more than double the slot capacity, as well as providing additional food and beverage areas, and back-of-house modifications. Phase 1 included the expansion of the gaming floor and Phases 2 and 3 included the balance of the renovation for the existing facility. 

PMX provided full project management services to GCG for all 3 project phases including, design management, procurement, management of construction, cost control, scheduling, contract administration, reporting, and risk management.

Artillery Park Recreation Centre

Client: City of Kingston
Location: Kingston, Ontario

Project Completion: May 2014
Project Value: $12 Million

Artillery Park Aquatic & Fitness Centre closed June 30, 2012 to undergo a series of renovations and upgrades. The renovations not only provided an enhanced level of service but also gave the aging facility a much needed face-lift and overhaul of all mechanical systems. Key features include: fully upgraded accessibility, new family, men’s, and women’s change rooms by the pool, more parking spots, new therapy/leisure pool with warmer water temperatures, larger lobby and gathering areas outside the aquatic and fitness centres, new fitness and cardio room with separate dry change rooms for men and women, salt water treatment for lap and therapy pools, new sauna, refurbished gymnasium and multi-purpose rooms, more windows to increase sunlight in the facility, improved mechanical systems, including increased hot water capacity, and enhanced HVAC systems. 

PMX provided project management services to the City of Kingston.

The Theatre Centre

Client: B.A.A.N.N. Theatre Centre
Location: Toronto, Ontario

Project Completion: March 2014
Project Value: $6.2 Million

The renovation of The Theatre Centre transforms the former Carnegie Library at 1115 Queen Street West into a 21st century live arts hub and incubator, and is the permanent home of The Buddies in Bad Time Theatre, Autumn Leaf Theatre, AKA Performance Interface, Necessary Angel, and Nightwood Theatre. Structural highlights of the renovation project include: a flexible contemporary performance space with seating for 200, a fully-equipped laboratory to support new work creation, development and rehearsal space, a glass-walled café lobby on the building’s south-west corner with views to a new art-park, unique gallery spaces for presentations of visual and media art, a green-roofed terrace, and a multi-purpose event space.

Casino Windsor Expansion Project

Client: Ontario Lottery & Gaming Corporation
Location: Windsor, Ontario

Project Completion: August 2008
Project Value: $400 Million

Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) embarked upon the expansion of the existing Casino Windsor. The project included construction of a luxury hotel tower with a 400 room capacity, a 5,000 seat entertainment venue, 100,000 SF of new convention space, as well as numerous restaurants and retail space. 

PMX was part of the OLG project management team providing professional risk management services.

4-Pad Ice Rink

Client: Parc Downsview Park Inc. (PDP)

Parc Downsview Park Inc. (PDP Inc.) created a new 160,000 SF, 4-pad ice rink as part of the Downsview Park Sports Centre. This addition required preliminary earth works, demolition of a portion of the existing building, gas line relocation, storm and sanitary line relocation, berming, and parking lot construction. 

PMX provided project management advisory services to PDP Inc. during the design, engineering, and construction phases.

K-Rock Centre

Client: City of Kingston
Location: Kingston, Ontario

Project Completion: February 2008
Project Value: $46 Million

The City of Kingston completed construction of a 22,000 SF regional sports and entertainment centre in downtown Kingston, Ontario. The new 5,000 seat facility was constructed using a design-build contracting strategy and has been designed with a LEED® Silver certification. 

PMX provided project management advisory services to the City of Kingston and provided project management support services for management and coordination of both the main design-build and facility operations contracts.
